As mentioned in the previous entry, art becomes more simplified yet complicated. How so? The work of a designer becomes simplified when what used to be traditional, hands-on tools are made into digital forms by which making it more accessible to everyone. It becomes complicated when it is expected for the designer to be a master of all the tools. There are some individuals who believe that he or she is an artist because they too have access to these applications. So then why should designers get paid; other people can do it too right? Or not right? Anyone can create art but design is art with functionality.
As I was reflecting on this topic, a quote from Disney Pixar’s Ratatouille cross my mind. The movie’s character, who was the food critic, stated that “Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere”.
